On October 7, Google published a blog post stating:

We’re announcing a new monetization policy for Google advertisers, publishers and YouTube creators that will prohibit ads for, and monetization of, content that contradicts well-established scientific consensus around the existence and causes of climate change.

On October 9, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed Assembly Bill 1084 which will force large retailers to have non-gendered toy sections starting in 2024.

During an October 2 broadcast, an NBC reporter interviewing NASCAR racer Brandon Brown about winning the NASCAR Xfinity Series tried to cover up the crowd's chants of "F*** Joe Biden" by claiming they were chanting, "Let's go Brandon!".

Supply Chain Crisis

Twitter users used the hashtag #EmptyShelvesJoe to criticize President Biden for empty shelves and skyrocketing prices caused by a backlog of shipping containers waiting to dock at California ports.

Natural Immunity Hashtag

In mid-September, Instagram users noticed that posts with the hashtag "natural immunity" were no longer displaying in hashtag searchers. Instead, a pop-up window displays, reading: "Looking for Vaccine Info? When it comes to health, everyone wants reliable, up-to-date information. Visit the website for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The website has information that can help answer questions you may have about vaccines."
